The company joins Ad Net Zero to further its commitment to a sustainable future
Index Exchange Inc. (Index), one of the world’s largest independent ad exchanges, today announced it has partnered with Ad Net Zero, an organization driving collective industry action to reduce the carbon impact of developing, producing, and running advertising to real net zero. By supporting Ad Net Zero, Index accelerates its commitment to continuous research and investment in greener forms of infrastructure and operations, with a core focus on industry collaboration.
“I am thrilled to welcome Index as an Ad Net Zero supporter,” said John Osborn, USA Director at Ad Net Zero. “They are an important part of the digital advertising ecosystem and can make a real impact with their commitment to sustainability.”
Index continues to build and innovate with sustainability in mind; the company’s 2021 rebuild of its exchange technology from the ground up was focused on making the entire exchange more efficient, not just in terms of quickly building and deploying more features, but also in compute and processing power. Overall, the global refresh reduced power per auction by 40%. The company is also investing in improving the efficiency of the advertising supply chain by minimizing the amount of hops in a transaction and by prioritizing direct supply.
Index is an active participant in leading industry sustainability organizations, including the Sustainability Working Group within the IAB Tech Lab, IAB UK, IAB Europe, and IAB Australia, to establish consistent standards and measurement that will serve as the foundation for a greener ecosystem. Through its partnership with Scope3, the company also offers carbon-sustainable media packages for buyers to fully offset the impact of their digital advertising campaigns.
“We’re eager to advance our decarbonization efforts and join Ad Net Zero in driving sustainable change within the digital media ecosystem. It’s our responsibility to prioritize sustainability with every business decision,” said Lori Goode, chief marketing officer at Index Exchange. “We will continue to make climate-conscious decisions in our business operations, collaborate across the industry to drive consistent standards, and support employees and customers in their efforts as we progress against a collective goal of net zero.”
Index is dedicated to creating responsible workspaces by occupying high-performance green buildings. Index’s two largest offices, Toronto and New York City, are Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified.
